Yurii Bohdan appointed Deputy Head of the UDS Central Humanitarian Demining Department

The department oversees humanitarian demining operations across the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv regions.

Yurii brings a strong professional background, including nine years of service in law enforcement at the rank of Senior Lieutenant, where he gained extensive leadership and management experience.

His career in humanitarian demining reflects a path of continuous professional growth. Yurii earned his Deminer Certification at the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), as well as a UAV Operator Certificate. He began his career at UDS as a deminer, carrying out field operations to clear land contaminated with explosive ordnance.

Over the past two years, he has led a Non-Technical Survey (NTS) Team, where he was responsible for operational planning, information analysis, risk assessment, and team coordination.

“I am confident that my hands-on field experience, combined with my leadership background, will enable me to contribute effectively to improving public safety and returning contaminated land to safe use. For me, this appointment represents, above all, a great responsibility. I firmly believe that professionalism, teamwork, and a systematic approach are the foundation of successful mission delivery,” Yurii commented.

In his new role, Yurii will focus on coordinating humanitarian demining operations, strengthening the quality management system, and implementing modern management practices.

“Yurii is a former officer, which is reflected in his decisive leadership and disciplined approach. He always keeps his word and ensures that tasks are completed accurately and on schedule. He is someone you can rely on in the most demanding situations,” said Eduard Drach, Technical Director of UDS.
