Yaroslav Nad, Chairman of the UDS Supervisory Board: Safety and quality are above all else in our work!

Every month, the Supervisory Board of the National operator of mine countermeasures Ukrainian demining services meets to resolve urgent and current issues. Special attention is always paid to safety. Security in all directions. And especially teams.

At the last meeting of the Supervisory Board, a very important document was approved - the company's policy on the use of alcohol and narcotic substances. This is not only about safety "in the field", the quality of performance of assigned tasks, but also about safety and environmental friendliness in the team.

Safety, efficiency and quality of work are what UDS pays great attention to. And our goal is to ensure the highest level of humanitarian demining.

The Ukrainian demining services team includes some of the best specialists in the market and we do everything to keep it that way. And the use of alcohol or narcotic substances by UDS employees is categorically unacceptable, because it can threaten people's lives and health, as well as the successful performance of such an important job.

In order to achieve the set goal, the Supervisory Board decided to conduct a check for the presence of alcohol or narcotic substances in the body of employees. It will be carried out by authorized persons during daily inspection, and its results will be recorded in a log.

In addition, due to the responsibility placed on UDS as a mine action operator, we have decided to have team members undergo a polygraph survey every three months.

In the case of detection of alcohol or drug use, such an employee will be immediately removed from the performance of his duties with subsequent termination of employment.

This decision is only a part of the reforms implemented in the company. A little earlier, we approved the procedure for the implementation of the environmental policy and the principles of implementation and compliance with the gender policy.

In its work, UDS is guided by the principles of preserving the environment of Ukraine through the improvement of production processes and the environmental management system, compliance with the principles of sustainable development, investment in environmental protection measures and raising the level of environmental awareness. The company's goal is to clean Ukrainian lands from the dirt of war, which means, among other things, restoring the environment of our country.

We not only took responsibility for the implementation of the assigned tasks in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Management System according to DSTU ISO 14001:2015 (ISO 14001:2015, IDT), but also developed our own Standard Operating Procedure SOP 08.02 "Environmental Protection Measures".

As I said, another important decision made by the Supervisory Board concerns gender equality. Today, one third of the company's employees are women, including combatants. Therefore, we confirm our commitment to the policy of gender equality not just with words, but also with actions. By the way, this also corresponds to the NATO program "Women, peace and security".

Of course, at the meetings of the Supervisory Board, a number of decisions are made that relate directly to the mine action market. For example, in order to share its experience, provide suggestions and recommendations regarding the regulatory and legislative framework, the Supervisory Board decided to join the UDS in two powerful non-governmental institutions: the Ukrainian Association of Humanitarian Demining Operators and the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining. After all, each of the participants in the humanitarian demining market faces a number of difficulties and challenges, and only with joint efforts and coordinated actions will we be able to overcome them. And I am glad that the expertise of UDS is extremely useful in these areas.

And finally. We work, we develop, we grow. Today, less than a year later, UDS is a powerful mine action operator with 11 teams of sappers, 7 Bozena remote demining machines and already surveyed more than 3000 hectares of land.

The company already has more than 130 employees.

It has only been a few months since we were established, but today we are already able to clear 300 hectares per month and carry out non-technical surveys of 3,000 hectares per month.

Our mission is to bring back to life the lands polluted by war. And we do it successfully!
