We are beginning preparations for demining the northern part of the Bug–Dnipro–Lyman Canal (BDLC) water area
At the initiative of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, a working meeting was held with Captain of the Mykolaiv and Olvia sea ports, Ivan Orlo, a long-distance sea captain with over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry.
The participants discussed the steps toward creating a humanitarian demining program for the BDLC — one of the key waterways ensuring the operation of Mykolaiv region’s port infrastructure.
The first stage will involve a non-technical survey (NTS) of the water area in accordance with DSTU 8820:2023 and IMAS 08.10 standards.
It is known that the bottom and coastal zone of the canal (over 87 km long) are heavily contaminated with explosive remnants of war.
The southern part of the BDLC remains particularly challenging, as it is still subject to daily shelling from the occupied Kinburn Spit.
🧭 Clearing the northern part of the BDLC is a critical, technologically complex, but necessary step toward restoring navigation, port operations, and regional safety.
UDS Company possesses all required certifications and technical capabilities to carry out such operations. Our Department of Special Demining Operations is equipped with modern tools and remotely operated systems, and holds a valid certificate of conformity for water area demining — DCS/0013/D-24.
We express our gratitude to the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration for their trust and coordination, and to the Port Captain for his readiness to cooperate.
