UTTC TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2026: Demining Technologies in Action
On 17–18 June, UDS participated in a hands-on event dedicated to the application of modern technologies in mine action and showcased the capabilities of the GERMINA URCM-3000 demining machine.
What made this year’s format unique was that technologies were not displayed at exhibition stands but tested in real operational conditions. The event replicated the full mine action cycle—from situational assessment and site preparation to clearance, removal of explosive hazards, quality control, and environmental assessment. Particular emphasis was placed on the integration of different demining processes.
The event brought together more than 350 participants, including mine action operators, equipment manufacturers, representatives of the security and defence sector, government institutions, international organizations, and donor partners.
We would like to thank the organizers of the event—the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, and UNDP Ukraine—for creating a platform to advance innovation in mine action.
Background
UTTC TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2026 is a practice-oriented event focused on testing and improving the application of modern technologies in demining operations. Unlike traditional technology exhibitions, it emphasizes not the presentation of individual products, but how operators employ technologies in real-world scenarios and how different solutions interact within a single operational workflow.
The programme was structured over two days.
Day One – “Technology Relay”
The first day included a safety briefing, technology familiarization sessions, the formation of mixed teams, and a practical scenario-based exercise followed by an analysis of the decisions made by participants.
Day Two – Practical Scenario Implementation
The second day focused on practical exercises, including technical survey, marking, equipment integration testing, the deployment of unmanned systems, explosive ordnance disposal and destruction activities (using remote and robotic solutions as well as combined approaches), followed by quality control and environmental assessment.
The objective of the event was to develop practical recommendations for the application of technologies, identify effective models for their integration into operational processes, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
