UDS specialists conducted a mine safety lesson for primary school children

Today, UDS held an educational and awareness-raising lesson on mine safety for students in grades 5–8 at Liko-School.

Around 140 students took part in the event.

During the session, students learned:

☑️ about the different types of mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW)

☑️ about real-life threats they may encounter in daily life

☑️ how to act correctly when discovering a suspicious item and key safety rules — at home, on the road, and during outdoor activities.

Special attention was paid to a practical algorithm of actions in dangerous situations. All participants received informational leaflets for themselves and their families to reinforce the knowledge at home.

The lesson was conducted by the head of UDS Non-Technical Survey Group No. 4, a seasoned expert who has been part of the UDS team since its early days, and humanitarian deminer Bohdan Hrunkovskyi.

The event was also attended by Serhii Smyrnov, one of the UDS team leaders, a veteran and combat participant.

💬 “These lessons are extremely important. Nearly a quarter of Ukraine’s territory is potentially contaminated with explosive remnants of war, and it is children who face the highest risk. Our task is to explain what real danger is and how to avoid it.Such knowledge is a safety shield for our children. It helps preserve life and health, reducing the risks young people face in today’s reality,” — said Anna Anisimova, Head of the UDS Non-Technical Survey Group.

By the way, today, April 4, the world marks the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

🔹 The mission of UDS is to create a safe environment for the life and development of our citizens.
