UDS returned 50 hectares of cleaned land to a Mykolaiv farmer

Recently, the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service inspected the 50-hectare areas demined by UDS in Snigurivka, Bashtansky district, Mykolaiv region.

The territory in Snigurivka, where several groups of UDS sappers conducted demining, belongs to the Ukrainian farmer Serhiy Kishkovsky, the head of the "Savannah" farm, who has been engaged in growing agricultural products in the Snigurivka community for over 20 years. As a result of the Russian aggression, the farm suffered significant damage. Office and warehouse buildings were destroyed and looted, crops and equipment were lost. Agricultural lands became unsuitable for cultivation due to contamination with explosive ordnance. There were cases of agricultural machinery being blown up and human casualties.

"At the beginning, we conducted a non-technical survey of the farm territory, using hand-held unmanned aerial vehicles. After that, the land was cleared of mines and ammunition using Bozena robot machines.

Now, 50 hectares of land are already assessed as cleared of explosive ordnance in accordance with the National Standards for Mine Action and are suitable for use. The story of Serhiy is just one of many examples of how UDS helps Ukrainian farmers restore their production," said Oleg Smal, head of the quality management department at UDS.
