UDS participates in coordination headquarters meeting on humanitarian demining in Mykolaiv Region

Today, the Coordination Headquarters for the Clearance of Explosive Remnants of War from the Territory of Mykolaiv Region held a meeting at the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. UDS Commercial Director Serhii Simonov took part in the event.

The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Coordination Headquarters, First Deputy Head of the Regional Military Administration Heorhii Reshetilov. Members of the Coordination Headquarters and representatives of mine action operators also participated in the discussion.

Participants reviewed the progress of survey and clearance activities currently being carried out across 19 communities in the region. Particular attention was paid to practical aspects of implementing the state programme for compensating the costs of humanitarian demining of agricultural land.

As part of the event, Certificates of Handover of Responsibility for Cleared Land and Guarantee Letters for Released Areas following the results of non-technical survey were also presented.

During the meeting, UDS Commercial Director Serhii Simonov emphasized the need for joint efforts to develop proposals for implementing practical humanitarian demining measures in Mykolaiv Region in accordance with the requirements of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolutions No. 1301 of 10 October 2025 and No. 366 of 25 March 2026. These regulatory acts introduced amendments to the Procedure for the Use of Funds to Compensate the Costs of Humanitarian Demining of Agricultural Land (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 284 of 12 March 2024).

“Under these regulations, individual landowners are now also eligible for compensation of humanitarian demining costs. This category represents a significant share of agricultural land contaminated by explosive ordnance in the region. Therefore, it is a shared responsibility of the government and mine action operators to establish a clear and understandable mechanism for implementing these provisions at the local level, ensuring that every farmer can exercise this right,” Serhii Simonov noted.

It should be noted that UDS ranks among the leading commercial mine action operators in Ukraine in terms of completed non-technical survey projects and the amount of land released and cleared. We are also among the leaders in the number of tenders awarded by the Humanitarian Demining Centre under the state programme for compensating the costs of humanitarian demining of agricultural land.

Within Mykolaiv Region, UDS has conducted and obtained validation from the national mine action authorities for non-technical surveys covering a total area of 4,035 hectares. In addition, 1,002 hectares of land have been cleared or released. For these released areas, UDS has received 95 Certificates and 4 State Standard Guarantee Letters.

UDS has established and deployed its Southern Humanitarian Demining Department in the Snihurivka community, where it has become a significant local taxpayer. Since the start of our operations, more than UAH 43 million in personal income tax has been contributed to the budget of the Snihurivka Municipal Territorial Community.
