UDS: More than 30 operators are already operating in the mine action market

More than 30 operators are already operating in the mine action market, while last year there were only 14 of them.

This suggests that the market is developing, and humanitarian demining services are very relevant.

Volodymyr  Beshley, Acting Director General of UDS, said this on the air  of the Ya-UA TV channel  together with the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining:

"To date, more than 30 operators are already operating in the mine action market, although a year ago their number was about 14. The state stimulates the creation and development of this market, and this makes it possible to form a certain competition between operators. And the availability of high-quality, better, more modern services motivates operators to improve and involve the latest technologies in their work."

He also stressed that, in particular, UDS, as a mine action operator, is the first Ukrainian company to provide mechanized demining services and, as an operator, the first and so far the only company to start using modern Bozena remote demining vehicles.

"These vehicles are remote and ensure the quality of humanitarian demining. By the way, we have actively established cooperation with the Ukrainian manufacturer of metal detectors Trembita, and they are already used in our work. In addition, we provide our colleagues who develop Ukrainian humanitarian demining vehicles with advice based on the experience already available at UDS. Such state-of-the-art technologies, which operators have the ability to use, significantly accelerate the cleaning and liberation of Ukrainian land from the dangerous dirt of war."

UDS and the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining also discussed the cooperation and cohesion of mine action operators.

Mary Akopian, Head of the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining (UNAGR) stressed the importance of cooperation:

"We are not talking about competition, we are talking about strengthening the capabilities of the Ukrainian demining market in order to have a result not in 300 years, which we cannot afford, but as soon as possible. To do this, we need a large number of market players who should help each other develop, attract new technologies, and train sappers. And the sooner we can invest in it, the better for our country."
