UDS is looking for paramedics to work in Mykolaiv region

10 years of war have resulted in the territory of Ukraine becoming the most contaminated with mines and various explosive devices in the world.

This is not just a critical problem that has arisen as a result of the war started by Russia, but also a challenge for all of us. Every day, the Ukrainian Defence Forces defend our country against the occupiers at the cost of their own lives. Sapper teams are also risking their lives to cleanse our land of the war's filth left behind by the invaders. And medics are an integral part of their teams. The lives and health of the sappers and the team as a whole depend on the actions of the medics.

The situations vary. Sometimes, unfortunately, they are tragic. That's why every UDS sapper team must have a medic.

The main task of a paramedic is to provide medical assistance in case of an accident during the work process, including first aid, stabilisation of the victim's condition and monitoring his or her condition during evacuation.

But the mission of paramedics in humanitarian demining does not end there.

The medical worker also monitors the health of personnel and allows sappers to perform work, organises interaction with local healthcare authorities at permanent deployment points and during missions. The medic also conducts regular training sessions for personnel in tactical medicine.

"We also conduct trainings for the communities where UDS demining is carried out. This is important because our land is littered with unexploded ordnance and everyone should know not only the rules for handling explosive ordnance, but also how to provide first aid. Of course, every UDS sapper takes first aid courses. Even basic knowledge and skills can save lives," says Yulia Kavetska, Head of Medical Support Department and UDS Chief Medical Officer.

By the way, UDS is looking for paramedics to work in Mykolaiv region, where we continue to clear agricultural land of mines.
