UDS joins global webinar series on the future of mine action

Recently, Serhii Nerpii, Head of International Cooperation at UDS, delivered a presentation as part of the international webinar series “Mine Action: Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Global Partnerships.”

More than 100 participants from different countries joined the discussion on current challenges and the future of the sector.

The presentation focused on the topic: “Climate Change as a Risk Multiplier: Landmine Contamination and the Complexity of Demining in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.”

UDS, together with Subsphere Co., in partnership with York University and UNITAR, is implementing a global series of expert talks. The initiative brings together mine action professionals, research centers, academia, policymakers, industry, and humanitarian organizations to shape the future of the sector through innovation and sustainable development.

Special attention was given to the demining project in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone — one of the most complex and critical areas for restoring safety in Ukraine and attracting international funding.

UDS is already building systematic cooperation in this field. In particular, in 2024 the company signed a memorandum with Subsphere Co., which предусматривает:

— the use of AI-based explosive ordnance detection technologies

— deployment of unmanned systems

— processing of remote sensing data to enhance operational efficiency

Currently, 36 UDS deminers have verified experience working in radiation-hazard environments, enabling the company to operate in the challenging conditions of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone in compliance with safety requirements and international mine action standards.

We continue to expand international partnerships and implement innovative solutions to bring war-contaminated land back to life.
