UDS Initiates Humanitarian Demining in Mykolaiv Oblast
Starting from today, January 17, UDS has commenced humanitarian demining activities in the Mykolaiv Oblast.
As the first stage, in accordance with the previously signed memorandum (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/9nfwCuUbQqWdv9X1/?mibextid=WC7FNe), non-technical survey and informing the population about the risks associated with mines and explosive remnants of war will be the focus.
All activities are scheduled to be completed by February 17.
As always, UDS groups consist of the best specialists. Two groups, each comprising 6 members from the Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Information on Risks from Mines (IRRM), will be working in designated areas, including one paramedic per group.
The same applies to equipment. Each group is provided with:
— Three vehicles: two Toyota Hilux and one Volkswagen Transporter T5; — Communication tools: Starlink, reconnaissance, and topographical referencing; — Photo and video recording devices; — TREMBITA metal detectors (for surveying and detecting large metal objects at significant depths underground and underwater); — VMC4 metal detectors (for detecting all types of mines with the highest sensitivity to objects near the ground surface); — Personal protective equipment (PASGT helmet, STANAG 2920 NATO standard protection level; demining apron providing frontal protection covering all vital parts of the body; STRAZH M-TT armored vest; modular first aid kit); — Marking materials, and more.
For the population residing near areas that, following NTS, will be designated as "suspected hazardous areas" or "potentially dangerous areas," UDS will conduct information sessions about the risks associated with mines and explosive remnants of war.
The subsequent stages will include:
— Delivery of Bozena 5 demining systems and the organization of coordination for 9 demining groups involving no fewer than 72 sappers. — Conducting humanitarian demining of designated mined areas up to 50 hectares using Bozena demining systems and clearing them of remnants of war.
We are bringing life back to lands contaminated by war for your safe living!
Everything will be Ukraine! 🇺🇦
