UDS held a demonstration event on humanitarian demining by mechanized method in mined areas in the village of Kyselivka, Mykolaiv region
UDS sappers demonstrated the processes of demining with machines and mechanisms to the main stakeholders of mine action.
The territory of Kyselivka is densely polluted, because there were heavy battles with the enemy here two years ago. The village is almost destroyed, and the fields are "strewn" with undetonated mines and ammunition. Full-fledged economic and social recovery of territories is possible only after cleansing.
UDS has received an order from the Mine Action Center to demine and clear the area of 25 hectares in Kyselivka and has already started work using three Bozena 5+ robotic systems. After the passage of Bozena 5+ vehicles, our sappers check the territory with mine detectors and clear it of the remnants of war.
This one is much faster and safer than manual demining. In addition, mechanized demining is much cheaper.
Manual demining work is also being carried out on the site — a group of UDS sappers is carrying out the process of clearing the area of hostilities from the remnants of the Uragan MLRS and artillery shells.
Those present at the demonstration were presented with the Bozena 5+ robotic remote demining system.
The participants of the event had the opportunity to try to drive this car in a safe area.
Representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark became interested in the work of UDS. It is the Danish government that takes care of the restoration of the Mykolaiv region and pays special attention to demining.
The event was attended by 55 visitors representing the following organizations and institutions:
- Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration;
- District military administrations of Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts;
- Heads of AHs and starostas of hromadas;
- Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine;

The event was also attended by the heads of all three primary mine action certification centers from Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, as well as the leadership of the National Mine Action Authority of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who highly appreciated the quality of demining work by UDS sappers.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Government Center for Humanitarian Demining were interested in the pricing process and stages of demining fields.
Our experts provided comprehensive answers and acquainted in detail with the calculation of the cost of services. The process of compensating the costs of agricultural producers for land demining was discussed. Farmers, in communication with representatives of the central government, emphasized that they do not have the opportunity to finance demining at their own expense.
Standard Operating Procedures for Machine-Assisted Demining were also actively discussed. Primary health care operators, military personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and officers of the State Emergency Service shared their experience and vision. This discussion was very valuable for the engineering and technical direction of UDS.
The event lasted two days.
We plan to hold another such "open day" in May.
