UDS has successfully passed the stage of certification for the destruction of explosives.
On June 26-27, 2024, sappers of the National Mine Action Operator Ukrainian demining services successfully passed the decisive stage of certification for the disposal (destruction) of mines/explosive remnants of war — on-site assessment.
For assessment by the specialists of the certification body of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine - a commission consisting of officers of the State Emergency Service, UDS sappers simulated the situation of detection and subsequent destruction of explosives in the Mykolaiv region.
The commission assessed the work of the sappers as excellent and, importantly, did not find any non-compliance with certification requirements in the process.
This humanitarian demining process takes place through demining operations and includes all aspects of explosive remnants of war, including the detection and disposal of unexploded ordnance as well as abandoned explosives.
"So, from now on, in the UDS, along with the groups of NTS, TO, Battle Area Clearance (ВАС), manual demining, and mechanized demining, there will be another group - for the destruction of mines and explosive objects of war. In fact, with this certificate, we will close the full cycle of humanitarian demining. I am grateful to the representatives of the certification body for their trust and high appreciation of our capabilities," said Eduard Drach, Head of the Department of Non-Technical Inspection and Public Information at UDS.
Therefore, as part of humanitarian demining, UDS can perform the following processes:
✅ non-technical survey;
✅ technical survey;
✅ manual demining;
✅ demining with the use of machines and mechanisms;
✅ Battle Area Clearance (ВАС);
✅ informing the population about the risks associated with EO;
✅ clearance (destruction) of mines EO of war.
