UDS female deminers are enhancing their qualifications through an international IEDD course in Kosovo

The program is delivered at the international training center MAT Kosovo – EOD & ERW Training Establishment and is aimed at strengthening the qualifications of specialists in the field of Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD).

The participation of UDS employees in the course became possible upon invitation from the NGO “Association of Ukrainian Deminers” within the project “She is a Deminer,” implemented jointly with the NGO “Girls” and UN Women Ukraine, with financial support from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.

The training program is designed to enhance the professional capacity of women in mine action and expand their participation in specialized operational roles.

“This is a very important and valuable experience for me. Here, we gain new knowledge, work with modern methodologies, and train in accordance with international standards. I am confident that these skills will help us perform our work even more effectively,” said Anna Anisimova, Head of Non-Technical Survey Team at UDS.

The course runs from February 16 to March 13, 2026.

The four-week combined IMAS IEDD Level 1 (Search) and IMAS IEDD Level 2 (Assistant Operator) course is conducted in accordance with international standard IMAS 09.31 and provides advanced theoretical and practical training in the search, identification, and safe handling of improvised explosive devices.

The program includes the study of IED types, detection methods, use of specialized equipment, remote access systems, personal protective equipment, and operational procedures in line with international mine action standards.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive IMAS IEDD Level 1 and Level 2 certification, confirming their qualifications in accordance with international standards and strengthening UDS’s capacity to effectively carry out humanitarian demining operations.
