UDS emphasized the development of training programs for women in demining during a meeting with UN Women Ukraine
Today, representatives of UN Women, led by Jolie Assen, Programme Specialist on Women, Peace and Security and Programme Manager at UN Women Ukraine, visited the UDS headquarters in Kyiv and met with the company’s leadership.
During the visit, UN Women representatives were introduced to UDS activities, the company’s team, and the work of humanitarian demining units.
Special attention was given to expanding the role of women in mine action.
UDS leadership emphasized the importance of developing training programs for women, including training in UAV operation and preparing women as operators of mechanized demining machines. This will contribute to their greater involvement in the use of modern humanitarian demining technologies.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation aimed at promoting gender equality, supporting the professional development of female specialists, and implementing gender-responsive approaches in humanitarian demining.
