UDS diver-sappers are surveying the water area of one of Mykolaiv’s ports
The Buh–Dnipro–Liman Canal (BDLC) is a strategic inland waterway connecting the Mykolaiv Sea Port with the Black Sea. It is within this water area that survey operations are currently underway at one of Mykolaiv’s ports.
💬 “We have started surveying the water area of one of the ports in Mykolaiv region. Our UDS team — diver-sappers, medics, mine action specialists, and an underwater drone — is already working both on the surface and underwater. Calmly, in a coordinated manner, and professionally. We are surveying a critical section of the water area, detecting and marking hazardous objects,” — said the CEO of UDS.
The survey is conducted in accordance with international IMAS standards and national DSTU standards, with the aim of detecting and marking explosive hazards that may pose a threat to navigation safety, port infrastructure, and human life.
Specialized equipment specified in the technical task is being used, including diving gear, vessels, an underwater drone, and auxiliary equipment. This approach ensures strict procedural compliance, effective risk control, and predictability of operations.
As a reminder, in 2025, UDS specialists developed a technical task for surveying the Buh–Dnipro–Liman Canal (BDLC) at the request of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
The document provides for the identification of potentially contaminated water areas and the preparation of recommendations for conducting non-technical and technical surveys or subsequent demining operations.
The technical task was developed by the UDS Department of Special Demining Operations, which includes a team of diver-sappers, in coordination with asset holders and other competent authorities.
The Buh–Dnipro–Liman Canal is a critical infrastructure facility, and its safe operation is essential for restoring navigation, enabling Ukrainian exports, and ensuring international maritime safety.
