UDS discussed 2025 demining funding with the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine

UDS representatives and the Deputy Minister of Economy discussed demining funding for 2025 at the Demine Ukraine Forum 2024.

"This year, 3 billion hryvnia was allocated to the budget for humanitarian demining, but only 1 billion for the next year. Given this trend, there is a high probability that these funds will be exhausted in the first quarter. Is there a vision now regarding when and how the compensation program will be replenished with funds in 2025, in addition to this billion that is in the state budget?".

This was exactly the question posed by UDS Director of Economics Oleksandr Romanyuk to Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Igor Bezkaravayny during the forum.

"The faster the billion runs out, the sooner we will find additional sources of funding," responded Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Igor Bezkaravayny.

"This is a great incentive to seek diversified resources. Our task for 2025 is to attract new financing instruments for humanitarian demining issues, both from international partners and private investments. And the working tool, which has already been discussed a lot today, is the best way to bring in such resources, because we know how it works, we know how it will be spent. We are already offering this approach to our partners and many of them are interested. Therefore, I hope that the billion will end quickly, and even faster we will find additional resources," summarized Igor Bezkaravayny.

It should be recalled that earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko noted that, according to the World Bank, at least 34 billion US dollars are needed to survey and clear the territories of Ukraine.
