UDS discovers a third World War II munition at the STOV “Derenkivets” site

During humanitarian demining operations on the lands of STOV “Derenkivets” in the Borodianka territorial community of Bucha district, Kyiv region, sappers discovered an 82 mm mortar round dating back to World War II.

The explosive ordnance was located at a depth of approximately 45 cm.

This is already the third case of discovering munitions from this period at the site. Previously, a 152 mm high-explosive artillery shell, located at a depth of about 50 cm, and a 76 mm artillery shell were found and removed.

Such “findings” once again confirm that even decades later, the land may remain dangerous.

It is worth noting that since January this year, UDS has been carrying out clearance operations on more than 500 hectares of land at STOV “Derenkivets”, commissioned by the Humanitarian Demining Center.

We are bringing war-contaminated land back to life.
