UDS Demonstrates Capabilities to GICHD Experts
UDS held a demonstration event for representatives of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).
Among the attendees were:
- Valon Kumnova – Operational Director of GICHD,
- Pedro Basto – Programme Manager of GICHD for Research and Innovation,
- Danielle Payne – Programme Officer, Mine Action Programmes, GICHD,
- Shahab Moeini – Director of Strategic Development at SubSphere Corporation.
The event took place at the agricultural field of the Potato Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in Kozintsi village, Bucha district, Kyiv region, where UDS is conducting humanitarian demining activities.
During the event, the guests were introduced to the characteristics of the site, the forces and resources involved, as well as the Mine Action processes used by UDS when performing the full cycle of operations. Using drone video footage, they were also able to observe the operations in real time, including the use of remote-controlled demining machines.
The guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Bozena 5+ demining system and try themselves as operators of the machine in a safe area.
"We greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet the UDS team and see the demining process firsthand," said Valon Kumnova, Operational Director of GICHD.
During the meeting, UDS leadership, along with GICHD representatives, also discussed mine action issues in Ukraine, particularly the funding of demining activities, and reached agreements regarding future cooperation.
