UDS Demined Particularly Valuable Land of the Potato Growing Institute in Kyiv Region
The demining of the agricultural land plot located in the Kyiv region, Bucha district, in the village of Kozyntsi has been completed. This refers to the particularly valuable land of the Institute of Potato Growing of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) β an area that suffered significant damage due to the war.
UDS sapper teams carried out a minefield survey of the land with a total area of 434.5 hectares. As a result of this inspection, the cleaning and demining of 235.6 hectares was completed. Various methods were used for this, including manual demining, OBRD (Ordnance, Bomb, and Rocket Disposal), and mechanical demining with machines and equipment. UDS demolition experts were involved during the work.
π£ As reported earlier, on this land, ammunition from the Russian-Ukrainian war as well as from World War II was found and destroyed.
π¬ "A total of 18 sappers and one paramedic were involved in the demining, with two Bozena 5+ machines operating. The challenge of this work was that we had to carry out operations in winter under difficult weather conditions, but the equipment and professionalism of our sappers allowed us to overcome all challenges," said the project leader, Bohdan Podhorniy.
The demining work was inspected by the quality inspection group of the Mine Action Center, and no critical discrepancies were found β all works complied with the state standards of DSTU 8820:2023.
π¬ "The UDS sappers safely and efficiently carried out the demining of this area. As a result of the work, we received a certificate from the Mine Action Center. Now this land poses no threat and can be used for its intended purpose," said Volodymyr Beshley, Deputy General Director of UDS.
