UDS confirmed the validity of the certificate for the “Underwater survey” process

The company holds a certificate of conformity for the “Underwater survey and clearance of explosive ordnance” process, valid for three years, issued by the State Certification Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU). In accordance with national requirements, during the certificate’s validity period, annual monitoring of the mine action operator’s activities is conducted.

This year, our company successfully passed the scheduled annual monitoring, confirming compliance with certification requirements and maintaining high standards in underwater demining operations.

During the inspection, UDS diver-demining specialists demonstrated the effective use of several key methods for clearing aquatic areas of explosive remnants of war, including:

☑️ Diver search using the “one diver – one pass” method;

☑️ Trawling with a towed sweep;

☑️ Trawling with a hemp rope.

These methods are included in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) “Underwater Demining” and comply with national mine action standards.

For the search operations, the diver-demining specialists used a Ukrainian-made handheld metal detector — Trembita, which has proven effective in the field. The device is sealed, shock-resistant, and waterproof, making it suitable for underwater use.

Our diver-demining specialists provided the manufacturer with detailed feedback regarding the device’s performance in underwater conditions — this will contribute to further improvements in equipment for humanitarian demining.

It should be noted that UDS has established a specialized underwater demining and diving operations group within the Department of Special Demining Operations, which directly performs aquatic area clearance tasks. The group includes experienced professional divers.

Additionally, in May of this year, UDS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, providing for joint efforts to clear freshwater bodies.
