UDS at the Climate Ambition Accelerator session: sharing experience and climate challenges

Recently, a Peer-to-Peer session of the Climate Ambition Accelerator program took place, where Ukrainian participant companies shared their experiences – both successful cases and challenges – in the field of greenhouse gas emissions accounting, setting targets under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and implementing climate strategies.

We thank the organizer of the event – UN Global Compact Network Ukraine.

Several companies took part in the session and briefly presented their cases:

▫️ UN Global Compact Network Ukraine – the representative of the organizers spoke about the creation of a European platform for knowledge exchange on climate issues and opportunities for international cooperation for Ukrainian businesses within this program.

▫️ N-iX – shared the journey of their IT company towards setting science-based emissions reduction targets (SBTi initiative) and spoke about the challenges and successes along the way.

From UDS, Andrii Lukianchenko, Environmental Safety Specialist in Demining, presented the company’s activities and spoke about the impact of demining on climate and the environment, as well as the practical solutions businesses are seeking in this area.

Andrii emphasized that the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone remains a source of environmental danger not only for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe.

“To prevent forest fires and the associated environmental disasters, UDS has already begun cooperation with state authorities. The company has signed three memoranda of cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining with the relevant government bodies of Ukraine. These agreements outline joint efforts for non-technical survey and demining of forests within the Exclusion Zone, as well as the search for donor support to implement these measures,” – said Andrii Lukianchenko, Environmental Safety Specialist in Demining at UDS.

🌱 Thus, UDS aims to reduce the risk of forest fires in the Chornobyl forests and prevent the repeated release of radioactive contamination into the environment.

☝🏻 As a reminder, since 2024 we have been a participant of the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine – the national network of the world’s largest community of responsible businesses. We demonstrate our commitment to the principles of sustainable development and environmental safety by integrating the best ESG practices into our activities.

About Climate Ambition Accelerator

The Climate Ambition Accelerator is a six-month program organized by the UN Global Compact that provides companies with the knowledge and tools to set science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with global climate commitments.

The program’s goal is to help businesses limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Participants gain access to leading international practices, training, and peer-to-peer exchange to develop effective climate strategies.

The Climate Ambition Accelerator is implemented through UN Global Compact networks worldwide and is designed for companies of various sizes and industries – from beginners in sustainability to leaders seeking to accelerate their progress.
