UDS and SSE “Pivnichna Pushcha” signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of demining the Exclusion Zone
On behalf of UDS, the document was signed by Acting CEO Oleksandr Romaniuk, and on behalf of SSE “Pivnichna Pushcha” by the Director of the enterprise, Serhii Khalash.
The Memorandum became an important step toward the implementation of a project to clear the territory of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and the Zone of Unconditional (Mandatory) Resettlement surrounding the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which require humanitarian demining activities.
The signing took place following a joint working meeting between the leadership of UDS and SSE “Pivnichna Pushcha,” during which the parties discussed coordination of efforts and further implementation of survey and clearance operations.
💬 “First of all, logistical infrastructure facilities require survey and clearance — namely roads and mineralized strips within forest areas. This will ensure the safe and efficient conduct of the enterprise’s operations, enable the implementation of fire prevention measures, and create conditions for the further clearance of forest areas and water bodies,” said Serhii Khalash, Director of SSE “Pivnichna Pushcha.”
SSE “Pivnichna Pushcha” operates under the management of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM). Earlier, UDS had already signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with SAUEZM, which laid the foundation for systematic cooperation with state institutions in implementing humanitarian demining projects in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
At the same time, demining the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone is part of UDS’s broader international cooperation. In particular, under signed memoranda with the French company Deminetec, one of the key areas of cooperation is the clearance of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, focusing on the survey and clearance of forest roads, firebreaks, and other critically important infrastructure facilities.
🤝 Cooperation with state enterprises and international partners forms the foundation for the phased clearance of territories, reduction of risks to personnel, and the creation of conditions for the safe functioning and recovery of the Exclusion Zone.
