UDS and GCS Sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Demining of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

At the UDS office, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Oleksandr Romanyuk, Acting General Director of UDS, and Dmytro Salimonov, General Director of Global Clearance Solutions Ukraine.

The signing took place in the presence of a representative of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM).

The document establishes a framework for cooperation in the implementation of a humanitarian demining programme in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Phase I covers the clearance of forest roads and firebreaks — areas where no humanitarian demining operations have previously been conducted.

To implement the programme, the two organisations will jointly pursue donor funding.

As a reminder, UDS already holds a number of memoranda in this area: with the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM), the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve, the State Specialized Enterprise "Pivnichna Pushcha", and French company Deminetec — where demining of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is identified as one of the key areas of cooperation.

Together, these agreements form a systemic foundation for the implementation of humanitarian demining projects across these territories.
