The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine and UDS will cooperate in the field of humanitarian demining

The memorandum provides for a non-technical survey of forest plantations, roads, firebreaks and clearings, followed by mechanised or manual demining once the survey is completed. The work will cover forest and hunting lands in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions.

To implement this, UDS has the requisite experience and specialised Bozena 5+ equipment — a remotely controlled system that operates effectively in hard-to-reach forest areas.

The memorandum also calls for information and awareness campaigns for forestry workers and local communities, along with the transparent attraction of Ukrainian and international grants. Joint trainings, seminars and conferences are planned to enable foresters, deminers and volunteers to exchange knowledge and experience.

This memorandum lays a solid foundation for returning Ukrainian forests to safe use, protects the lives of forestry professionals and promotes the sustainable recovery of territories affected by the war.

UDS, as the national mine-action operator, has implemented a certified environmental management system in accordance with DSTU ISO 14001:2015 (ISO 14001:2015, IDT).

Our principles are grounded in the International Mine Action Standards IMAS 07.11 “Environmental Considerations,” the UDS environmental policy and goals approved by the UDS Supervisory Board, and SOP-08:03 “Environmental Protection Measures. Control Procedure,” as well as the Laws of Ukraine “On Environmental Protection,” “On Environmental Impact Assessment,” and “On the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine.”

The environment is not an obstacle. It is our common value!
