The National Association for Humanitarian Demining starts its work in Ukraine
Recently, an important event for Ukraine took place - the presentation of the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining (UNAGR).
The event brought together participants in the field of humanitarian demining from various institutions and organizations of both the public and private sectors: government officials, international organizations, educational institutions, manufacturers and operators.
The speakers of the event, including the head of the association Mary Hakobyan, Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Advisor to the Minister of Defense Roman Konovalov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Matsuda Kuninori, as well as representatives of the Geneva Center for Humanitarian Demining and UNDP, who spoke about the mission and tasks of the new association.
"The Association is not a public or private organization - it is a platform for everyone. And we call on and invite everyone to join us with their ideas, with their difficulties and problems that we face each at our own level, working in our fields of activity related to mine action or humanitarian demining," Mary Hakobyan emphasized.
It was also noted that more than 20 organizations have already become members of UNAGR, including operators, and scientific and educational institutions.
🔺The event was also attended by a representative of UDS - Director of Economics Alexander Romanyuk. "The demining market must be transparent and understandable, and for this, it is necessary to have a unified approach to pricing for demining services. This is an issue that should come to the attention of the Association," Oleksandr Romaniuk said. Also, according to him, UDS plans to join this association. The relevant decision will be proposed to the UDS Supervisory Board, which will consider it in early April.⠀

The key mission of the association is to promote the fastest and high-quality cleaning of the territories of Ukraine contaminated with explosive objects, which coincides with the vision and mission of UDS. ⠀
📍The main activities of the association:
▪️promoting the activities of state authorities on humanitarian demining in Ukraine;
▪️development of recommendations for improving regulatory and legal support in the field of humanitarian demining;
▪️promoting the quality of professional training of industry specialists;
▪️development, discussion, submission of proposals for objectively justified types of classifiers, standards of operational reliability and safety;
▪️raising public awareness of the risks of injury and death associated with unauthorized handling of explosive ordnance, facilitating the provision of assistance to mine victims;
▪️promoting the formation of a market for humanitarian demining services in Ukraine;
▪️promoting the improvement of machinery and equipment for mine action, popularization of the latest models of equipment, technologies and methods;
▪️exchange of experience in the practical use of demining equipment and machinery;
▪️ Providing methodological assistance to the members of the Association in eliminating shortcomings in the work, as well as improving the qualifications of their specialists;
▪️ Cooperation with international professional organizations, as well as with international donor programs and technical assistance projects;
▪️ Representing of the interests of Ukrainian industry participants at the international level; promoting the implementation ofNATO and UN instruments, the implementation of their experience in humanitarian demining. ⠀
