The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and UDS Signed a Memorandum in the Field of Humanitarian Demining

📑 The Memorandum was signed by Serhii Vlasenko, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and Volodymyr Beshlei, Deputy General Director of UDS.

📑 The subject of the Memorandum is cooperation in humanitarian demining, joint efforts to attract donors in the fields of forestry and water management, as well as demining of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The parties agreed to search for and engage international and national grant resources to finance humanitarian and recovery programs.

💬 “This is a very important memorandum. Our sector is a silent victim of this brutal war. Our environment is heavily affected by mines, tripwires, and dangerous objects. This memorandum is the first step that initiates our joint cooperation in cleaning the environment, so that we leave behind clean land and our children live in safety and never know what war is or the destructive impact of Putinism,” said Serhii Vlasenko, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

UDS conducts its activities with respect for nature and the environment. We do not simply clear land—we restore it for life.

Our Environmental Principles:

🌱 1. Do No Harm Principle: Minimizing negative environmental impact.

🌱 2. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Mandatory before starting any work.

🌱 3. Environmental Restoration: Rehabilitation measures after demining is completed.

These principles are based on:

✅ International standards IMAS 07.11 “Environmental Considerations”

✅ ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

✅ UDS Environmental Policy and objectives approved by the UDS Supervisory Board, and SOP-08:03 “Environmental Protection Measures. Control Procedure.”

✅ Laws of Ukraine “On Environmental Protection”, “On Environmental Impact Assessment”, and “On the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine”.

The environment is not an obstacle. It is our shared value!
