The Ministry of Defense got acquainted with the process of mechanized demining by UDS sappers

The Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, represented by the Deputy Head of the Mine Action Department, Oleksandr Shchebetyuk, the Center of Mine Action Excellence and Environmental Safety at the Mine Action Directorate, represented by the Head of the Center Oleg Ryabchuk, and the Head of the Special Demining Department of the Center, Ihor Humeniuk, familiarized themselves with processes of humanitarian UDS demining, including mechanized land clearing.

The guests were shown the operation of remote demining machines Bozena 4+ and Bozena 5+ on a field in the village of Makariv, Kyiv region.

Deputy General Director of UDS, Volodymyr Beshlei, told the audience about the advantages of mine action operators working with remote demining machines, stressing: "The main value of the company is people. And we need remote demining machines precisely in order to ensure the maximum safety of our sappers during demining work."

In turn, the Head of the Department of Non-Technical Inspection and Public Information, Eduard Drach, emphasized the technical and production advantages of Bozena 4+ and Bozena 5+, especially in forest and overgrown areas:

"The work progress of the machines in a day is equal to the work progress that manual miners can make in a year. In addition to what is important, it is not only scale, but also safety for sappers. People are at a safe distance even in case of detonation. Machine control is possible at a distance of up to 5 km on flat terrain and up to 3 km on an area with trees and bushes."

The demining procedure is completed with a demining act from the UDS, as well as a corresponding certificate from the Mine Action Center, which confirms the clearing of the area and assumes the responsibility of the State for the territory.

Representatives of the Makariv, Ivankiv, and Borodyan settlement councils and the Ukrainian Association of Humanitarian Demining Operators were also present at the UDS demonstration event.
