Serhii Simonov, head of the UDS service implementation department, took part in the UNAGR working meeting

The other day, Serhiy Simonov, head of the UDS service implementation department, took part in a working meeting of the members (partners) of UNAGR of the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining.

The meeting discussed issues related to the processes of humanitarian demining, the development of a common vision for further activities, the development of an actual agenda and proposals for legislative initiatives on mine action in Ukraine.

According to the speeches of the event's speakers, the Association's immediate priority tasks are the creation of a deputy group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which will contribute to rule-making initiatives and the improvement of the legal framework governing the field of humanitarian demining.

In addition, the Association attaches an important role to the standardization of operational procedures and professional training of specialists in humanitarian demining. In particular, Serhiy Simonov noted the need to introduce basic education standards and upgrade the skills of sappers (mining), taking into account the positive experience of UDS cooperation with the Academy of Professional Development.
