Safe Water Bodies: Memorandum Signed Between UDS and the State Water Resources Agency

Today, UDS and the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining of water bodies and coastal areas.

📑 The document outlines a wide range of activities — from non-technical surveys to public awareness efforts on the risks associated with explosive hazards. The joint initiative aims not only to detect and neutralize dangerous items but also to restore safe access to rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, particularly in regions affected by the war.

💬 “Unfortunately, mines and explosive remnants are consequences of the armed conflict, which has been ongoing in our country for four years. This poses a serious threat both to water management workers and local communities. I am confident that through cooperation with demining professionals, we will be able to gradually restore safe access to water bodies, especially in de-occupied areas,” said Ihor Hopchak, Head of the State Water Resources Agency.

In turn, Volodymyr Beshlei, Deputy General Director of UDS, noted:

💬 “Our specialists will engage in the demining of water bodies and do everything possible to ensure that communities have safe access to rivers and lakes.”

🔰 UDS is the only non-governmental company with the capacity to conduct rapid, safe, and high-quality demining of aquatic areas and rivers.

🔰 As part of this cooperation with the State Water Agency, this year we plan to begin non-technical surveys and demining of freshwater rivers and lakes in the Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions.
