Partnership with Japan: new projects in demining discussed
A working meeting was held with the Executive Advisor of the Japanese company PADECO, Mr. Koki Hino, and the representative of PADECO in Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Harkavy.
UDS Commercial Director Serhiy Simonov informed representatives of PADECO to the achievements, capabilities of UDS in the field of humanitarian demining.
Together with the Head of the UDS International Cooperation Department Sergii Nerpii, the following joint projects in the field of humanitarian demining were discussed:
- development and implementation of Japanese technologies for demining water areas in Ukraine;
- demining and restoration of security in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone;
- demining of forest areas in certain regions of Ukraine;
- participation in financial support for the purchase of a remotely controlled machine for humanitarian demining – GERMINA URCM 3000 – for the needs of Ukraine.
💬 “Cooperation with Japanese partners opens up new opportunities for humanitarian demining in Ukraine. Thanks to advanced technologies and experience of Japan, we will be able to more effectively clear water areas, forests and other contaminated areas from explosive objects, returning these lands to safe use,” said Serhiy Nerpiy, Head of the International Cooperation Department of UDS.
Mr. Koki Hino emphasized the importance and prospects of cooperation between PADECO and UDS in the field of humanitarian demining. He proposed to bring these important projects for Ukraine for discussion during the Ukrainian Day at the Expo 2025 exhibition, which will be held on August 5, 2025 in Osaka (Kansai region, Japan), as well as at the Conference on Mine Action in Ukraine, which will be held on October 22-23, 2025 in Tokyo (Japan).
These events will bring together over 100 stakeholders, including Ukrainian national authorities, donor countries, international organizations and demining operators, to improve coordination and accelerate mine action efforts in Ukraine.
