Mykolaiv farmer Hryhorii Khrystus has had part of his farmland cleared of mines
During the non-technical survey, deminers found remnants of Grad rockets, fragments of hand grenades, RPG rounds, antipersonnel mines, and other dangerous war debris.
Hryhorii Khrystus applied to the Humanitarian Demining Center to have his fields cleared under the state programme. For two months, two teams from Ukrainian Demining Services (UDS) worked on the site, using both manual techniques and remote-controlled Bozena 5+ machines.
Project lead: Bohdan Podhornyi.Inspectors from the Mine Action Center’s inspection department verified the quality of the clearance. The land was released in accordance with the National Mine Action Standard DSTU 8820.
The farmer received three certificates that transfer responsibility for the cleared land to the state. He can now cultivate it safely.
However, other sections of his holding are still contaminated. They have already been surveyed by deminers and submitted by the farmer to the Humanitarian Demining Center for the next phase of clearance.
