Kyiv Region: UDS have launched demining operations across more than 500 hectares
Land clearance works have started at the STOV “Derenkivets” site within the Bucha territorial community of Bucha District, Kyiv Region.
Demining activities are carried out under a contract with the Center for Humanitarian Demining. The total area of the site is 511.9059 hectares.
The following key threats have been identified on the territory:
▪️ unexploded explosive ordnance (UXO), Category II;
▪️ abandoned explosive ordnance, Category I;
▪️ cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war (ERW).
It is planned to deploy six humanitarian demining teams to carry out the works. The operations manager is Serhii Tsykeniuk.
Demining is conducted using the following methods and processes:
🔹 Mechanical clearance (RMM) — employing mechanized demining systems Bozena 5+ and the mine roller system “Zmii”;
🔹 Technical survey (TS) — using area clearance methods ORVBD-V and ORVBD-HM in accordance with approved standard operating procedures and national standards.
