Igor Hushel appointed Deputy Technical Director of UDS

Igor Hushel has been appointed Deputy Technical Director of UDS.

Igor is an experienced engineer and a Level II certified deminer.

Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, he worked for more than ten years as a supervisor in international bus transportation. In 2022, he joined the Territorial Defence Forces of Ukraine, serving as a machine gunner in mobile fire teams. His desire to help restore safety to liberated territories led him to the field of humanitarian demining.

In November 2023, Igor joined the UDS team as a deminer-driver. That same year, he obtained the qualification of “Deminer (Demining), Level II” at the Humanitarian Demining Training Centre. He later completed training in Slovakia at the Way Industries plant, where he received operator certification for Bozena 4+ and Bozena 5+ demining machines.

During his nearly three years with UDS, Igor has built a strong track record of professional growth. He has worked as a deminer-mechanic and humanitarian deminer, led a demining team, and later headed the Mechanized Demining Department.

For his significant personal contribution and high level of professionalism, Igor was awarded the “For Service in the Mine Action Sector” badge by the Association of Sappers of Ukraine.

“Under Igor’s leadership, the Mechanized Demining Department has demonstrated flawless and highly efficient performance. Thanks to his engineering approach, discipline, and practical experience, we have been able to build our processes in a way that ensures all field tasks are completed to the highest possible standards, efficiently, quickly, and, most importantly, safely. He has become an indispensable member of the team — someone we can always rely on when facing the most challenging tasks,” said UDS Technical Director Eduard Drach.

As Deputy Technical Director, Igor Hushel will focus on comprehensive technological planning and the operational coordination of all UDS departments.

“This is a great responsibility, and I will do everything I can not to let the team down. Previously, my focus in mechanized demining was primarily on machine repairs and field operations. Now, the scope of my responsibilities is much broader. It includes planning, coordinating three departments, monitoring the implementation of work at every stage, and ensuring the successful handover of cleared areas,” said Igor Hushel.

The core values of UDS remain at the heart of everything we do: people’s safety, team professionalism, and the highest standards of quality. We carefully select our specialists, continuously invest in the professional development of every team member, and create genuine opportunities for career and personal growth within the company.

We sincerely congratulate Igor on his appointment and wish him success and strong results at this new level of responsibility!
