Humanitarian demining launched at a new site of Barvinok LLC
Humanitarian demining has begun at a new agricultural site of Barvinok LLC with a total area of 30.5111 hectares, located within the Barvinkivska territorial community of Izium District, Kharkiv Region.
The works are carried out using state funds under a contract commissioned by the Center for Humanitarian Demining.
The site has been confirmed to contain unexploded ordnance (UXO, Category II), abandoned explosive ordnance (Category I), as well as cluster munitions.
The operation involves personnel from the UDS “East” Humanitarian Demining Department, along with the Mechanized Demining Department of Ukrainian Demining Services. In total, 25 demining specialists are working at the site.
The Head of Operations is Vitalii Ilchuk.
Demining activities are conducted using the technical survey method, with the application of machines and mechanical equipment, as well as battle area clearance (BAC).
Additional equipment has been deployed, including the Bozena 5+ demining machine and the “Zmiiy” remotely controlled demining system produced by the Ukrainian manufacturer Rovertech.
“The works are ongoing under difficult weather conditions — snow, ice, and frost. However, we do not stop and continue working year-round without interruptions. Our sappers are true professionals, and we are confident that all planned tasks will be completed on time. We keep moving forward,” said Ihor Ovcharuk, Head of the UDS “East” Humanitarian Demining Department.
As a reminder, in 2025, under contracts with the Center for Humanitarian Demining, Ukrainian Demining Services fully completed demining of two sites of the same facility with a total area of 120 hectares (54 ha and 66 ha) belonging to Barvinok LLC, and received certificates of transfer of responsibility to the state for the cleared land from the Mine Action Center.
