Guardian Insurance Company Pays Out to Injured UDS Deminers

Guardian Insurance Company has covered the medical treatment and rehabilitation of two UDS specialists who were wounded during humanitarian de-mining operations in Mykolaiv Oblast.

On 12 April 2025, at approximately 13:30, an unidentified explosive device detonated while humanitarian de-mining work was under way on plot “Blahodatne-22” (Pervomaisk hromada, Mykolaiv Raion). An investigation determined that the sappers had committed no violations.

The blast injuries were sustained by Volodymyr Vynnyk and Ivan Marchenko, team leaders in the UDS Department of Special Demining Operations. Both men received emergency medical care, were evacuated, and were hospitalised at Mykolaiv City Emergency Hospital.

Back in November 2024, UDS signed a contract with Guardian that provides comprehensive insurance cover for deminers: the insured amount covers traumatic injuries and, God forbid, death that occurs during and because of professional mine-action activities.

Under this policy, Guardian has now paid insurance benefits to the two injured sappers, fully reimbursing all expenses for their treatment and subsequent rehabilitation.

Guardian ranks among Ukraine’s top ten insurance companies, holds licences for all 18 classes of non-life insurance, and has a high financial-stability rating. Insurance for humanitarian de-mining is a matter of life and death!

UDS entrusts its people to the best on the market—and Guardian has proved its worth.

For UDS, people’s safety comes above all else.
