Germina in action: UDS presented a Ukrainian machine to international missions

The event took place at one of the UDS-cleared sites within the Bucha Territorial Community in Kyiv Oblast, near the village of Shybene.

The Germina-3000 machine was demonstrated in challenging winter conditions — in snow and at low temperatures.

“Germina can operate at temperatures as low as -20°C. We used it to prepare the soil and conduct a technical survey of the area where we are now, and it performed very effectively both during the thaw, when there was mud and mobility was complicated, and during severe frost,” — noted the UDS CEO.

Among the invited guests were representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations, government institutions, charitable foundations, and demining operators, including:

  1. Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ukraine
  2. Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Ukraine / Embassy of Belgium in Kyiv
  3. Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ukraine
  4. American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine
  5. Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine
  6. UN Women
  7. UNDP Mine Action Program in Ukraine
  8. FAO Ukraine / Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
  9. Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine
  10. Humanitarian Demining Center
  11. Mine Action Center
  12. FSD Ukraine
  13. MAG Ukraine
  14. NGO “Association of Sappers of Ukraine”
  15. “Povernys do Zhyttia” Charity Foundation
  16. Gracengo Charity Foundation

In total, more than 60 visitors participated in the event.

Together with international and Ukrainian demining experts, participants discussed methods and procedures for demining in winter at low temperatures.

“Without the use of demining machines, winter operations would be impossible. Year-round work is ensured precisely by demining machines. It is very good that we now have high-quality and productive Ukrainian-made machines,” — said the Head of the Mine Action Center, Colonel Yevhenii Biriukov.

In addition, guests inspected other UDS demining systems — in particular, the Slovak Bozena-5+ and the Ukrainian KNRO “Zmiiy” complex. In total, UDS has deployed five demining machines in Kyiv Oblast.

“UDS has six Germina-3000 units. Two of them here are completely new. The company has been using this demining system model for pilot operation for a year. We have mastered its operation very well, and together with the manufacturer we have improved and adapted the machine to Ukrainian climate, threat conditions, and terrain. Now we are training and preparing crews for the future. What is important for us is that this is a Ukrainian-made machine. This means that service is organized in Ukraine — which is high-quality, fast, and cost-effective,” — stated the UDS CEO during the demonstration.
