Discussed expanding cooperation with the Swiss company Global Clearance Solutions Ukraine

Today, a working meeting took place at the UDS office with Dmytro Salimonov, General Director of Global Clearance Solutions in Ukraine, and Lurye Venter, a representative of the Swiss office of Global Clearance Solutions.

The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation in the field of mine action. UDS and GCS already have positive experience of partnership: previously, our teams worked together at sites in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, demonstrating effective coordination while carrying out humanitarian demining operations.

Particular attention was paid to the possibility of implementing joint projects with the involvement of donor funding. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare and sign a memorandum of cooperation, which will serve as a foundation for future joint comprehensive projects in the field of mine action.

One of the first projects within the framework of the future memorandum may involve attracting international funding for mine action activities in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, which remains one of the most complex and important areas for restoring safety in Ukraine’s territories.

It is worth recalling that UDS is already building systematic cooperation for demining the Chornobyl zone. The company has signed a number of memorandums of cooperation, including with the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM), SE “Pivnichna Pushcha”, and the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve.

These agreements form the basis for the phased survey and clearance of territories within the Exclusion Zone, including forest areas, roads, firebreaks, and other critically important infrastructure facilities.

Currently, 36 UDS deminers have confirmed experience working in radiation-hazard environments, enabling the company to operate in the challenging conditions of the Chornobyl zone in accordance with safety requirements and international mine action standards.

Background. Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) is a Swiss company specializing in the mitigation of explosive threats and operating in more than 30 countries worldwide. The company also manufactures its own mechanized demining machines. Since 2022, GCS has been operating in Ukraine, investing over €1 million to enter the market. The company is owner-managed and independently financed.

🤝 Expanding cooperation with international partners strengthens the capacities of national mine action operators and creates new opportunities to attract the resources needed to clear Ukrainian territories of explosive remnants of war.
