Demining completed on 876 hectares at Landex Agro LLC
UDS has completed the clearance of 876 hectares at Landex Agro LLC, located in the Izium District of Kharkiv Region.
The project was commissioned by the Humanitarian Demining Center.
The operations covered 198 cadastral land plots and 70 polygons of potentially contaminated areas.
To carry out the work, UDS deployed Bozena 5+, GERMINA, and Zmiy mechanical demining machines. Their use significantly reduced risks to deminers while increasing the efficiency of clearing large areas.
"Our deminers worked through three rotations under challenging field conditions, in extreme heat, and under the constant threat of hostile UAVs. Despite these circumstances, the team delivered outstanding results," said Ihor Ovcharuk, Head of the UDS East Humanitarian Demining Department.
During the clearance operations, 95 items of explosive ordnance (EO) were discovered and handed over for disposal. These included artillery shells, mortar rounds, anti-tank mines, hand grenades, aerial bombs, a Uragan multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) rocket, and PTM-1 scatterable anti-tank mines. In addition, tons of metal fragments and other hazardous remnants of war were removed from the fields.
"This project has been exceptionally demanding from a documentation standpoint. Managing 198 cadastral land plots and 70 polygons requires thousands of pages of technical documentation prepared by our GIS Department, Mine Action Documentation Department, Contract Management Department, and Internal Quality Control Department. It is highly complex and responsible work, particularly because the project is funded from the state budget, leaving no room for error," said Volodymyr Beshlei, Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
The project is now in its final stage, with external quality assurance inspections of the released land underway, along with the completion of documentation required for the formal handover of the project to the client.
