According to Dmytro Synenko, the region has a Headquarters for organizing demining (clearing of unexploded ordnance) of de-occupied territories of the Chernihiv region. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the potential contamination of Chernihiv region with unexploded ordnance has been about 60,000 hectares of agricultural land. Currently, about 18,000 hectares of agricultural land remain potentially contaminated in the region, 17,000 of which are located in the 20 km border zone. According to the plan of measures for humanitarian demining of the region's territories for 2025, it is planned to survey and clear 414.84 hectares of agricultural land.
