Artificial Intelligence and Demining: UDS has initiated a partnership with Canadian technology developer SubSphere Corporation

Ukrainian Demining Services (UDS) and Canadian technology developer SubSphere Corporation (Alberta, Canada) have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Together, we enhance landmine detection operations in Ukraine using AI-driven, drone-based solutions. This collaboration will improve the speed, precision, and safety of non-technical surveys and landmine detection efforts across heavily impacted regions.

Ukrainian Demining Services brings decades of experience in landmine detection and clearance within complex and high-risk environments.  With well-established protocols and extensive operational expertise, UDS has played a key role in making communities safer across high-risk areas.

This partnership leverages SubSphere's advanced AI-enhanced detection technology, integrated into long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), to deliver precision-driven landmine detection capabilities. Together, SubSphere and UDS will also develop an AI-based landmine database to support humanitarian demining operations, as well as a digital twin-based mine awareness training program designed to reduce civilian risk through immersive AI technology.

Aligned with the International Mine Ban Treaty (Ottawa Treaty), this partnership reflects both organizations’ commitment to promoting community safety and eliminating landmines. By combining SubSphere’s expertise in AI and UAV technology, UDS’s operational expertise, and advanced UAV systems, the collaboration is set to improve demining practices, bolster safety for operational teams, and contribute to a safer future for communities impacted by landmines.

For reference: SubSphere is a Canadian company that develops, among other things, the Deminer system, designed for technical reconnaissance of landmines. This system uses drone technology in combination with various sensors and machine learning algorithms to detect both surface and subsurface threats.
